About Me

Hi! I’m BILL BLANKENSHIP. Thanks for stopping by.

For nearly 32 years I was a journalist working at The Topeka Capital-Journal, where I served a variety of roles, including general assignment reporter, law enforcement writer, county affairs writer, assistant city editor — news, metro editor, city reporter, features reporter and, since July 8, 2002, arts & entertainment editor. When the newspaper eliminated that position, I still wanted to keep my hand in reporting about arts & entertainment in Topeka, so I started this blog, as well as doing some freelance work, including for Kerrice Mapes and her publication, seveneightfive magazine.

While this blog is free, I would like your help in supporting it through my photography. Please consider buying some photos of dress rehearsals and performances. You can through my photo website purchase prints or download a photo that will work on social media, like Facebook or Twitter. If I can make some money through my photography while using my reporting and writing skills to promote Topeka´s vibrant arts & entertainment scene, I can keep this blog going. Thanks for your support.
